My Coconut Hut

We went to Bear Flag and I got the usual and something new. I finally tried one of their coconuts! It was fabulous. I furthered its novelty cuteness by making it into a coconut hut when we got home and then we smashed it and ate all yummy insides.

Flowers + Bulbs + DIY Chalkboard Planter

I am enjoying the potted flowers that are blooming at home.
Feeling very grateful for these little gifts.
{red ranunculus}
{daffodil bulbs}
Mom gave me a bunch for a Spring treat.
I can't wait to plant these babies and watch them grow!
I'm thinking of spray painting my planter with some chalkboard paint
(Similar to this clipping I cut from a magazine a few years back).

Our First Married Valentine's Day + Happy 6 Months Danny

On Feb 14th I came home from work and this Rico Suave was in the backyard...very smooth Dan. I love it. He made me crab stuffed lobster, grilled veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. For dessert we had chocolate ganache cake with blueberries and wine. Oh how I love you Danny. Happy, happy Valentine's Day my love.

Speaking of LOVE, today {Feb 25} is our 6 month anniversary of our first year married! I know, I know...I'm one of those people that counts the months. Actually, Dan was the one who ever so kindly reminded me of the 1/2 way mark. Too cute, my hub is better at keeping track than I am!
I Love You Danny.
Time flies by when we're having fun. I can't believe it has already been 6 months. You're the apple of my eye. I love you with all of my heart and I am grateful for everyday we're together. You truly are the best.

Coconut Cream Hot Chocolate

Dany and Ev came by this afternoon for a play date. Daniel and Ev went surfing, while Dany and I hung out at the house. "Bye ladies...we'll be back in a BIT". We wanted to wait around because we thought a bit meant an hour or so, but to the guys it meant 4 hours {apparently they were the best waves of their lives!}. We decided to spend our time making some Coconut Cream Hot Chocolate, listening to tunes, making pottery and posing the old wicker furniture for craigslist. Not too shabby of an afternoon spent waiting for the return of the surf rats.
Here is our experimental recipe for the best hot cocoa you will ever have -- no joke
3 cups of milk
4 tablespoons coconut cream
2 tablespoons condensed milk
1/2 cup half and half
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon nutella
3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
3 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips
Whipped cream and chocolate shavings on top (optional)
Lets not kid ourselves, It's not optional.
Put all the ingredients in a medium sized pot on the stove. Stir on medium to high heat.

DIY Scented Hand Sanitizer

Well, this really isn't a difficult DIY project...we aren't making hand sanitizer from scratch or anything crazy like that. I just wanted to share with you something that I like to do my hand sanitizer. I work with kids all day and deal with a lot of colds, flus etc. I always keep a hand sanitizer in my car, ready to go for when I need it (or when they need it)! I love to spray a few squirts of my favorite perfume into my hand sanitizer and give it a good shake. After the smell of the alcohol wears off, your hands will be lightly scented with your favorite perfume. It's not a big fancy trick -- just a small, simple treat to add to your day.

Strawberry & Pear Salad with a Raspberry Gorgonzola Vinaigrette and Sprinkled Nutmeg

Mmmm I could eat this all day.

What Are You Doing For Valentine's Day?

What are your plans for Valentine's Day? Dan and I usually spend the evening at home. We tried going out for a few years, but it seems that all the resturants have fixed menus and jack up their prices. So this year Dan said he wanted to make dinner for me! Ooh so romantico. We'll have a nice dinner at home, drink some wine and snuggle up on the couch with a good movie. Sounds amazing to me.
Here is a sweet card that my Aunt Jill sent us for our first married Valentine's Day.
A sexy outfit to insire your evening.

T.P. Surprise

Hmmm...someone got us good while we were on our surf trip. Thank you to the mysterious T.P.-ers who hid Bud Light Limes all over our yard! You are too nice. Feel free to toilet paper us again and bring Michelob Ciders.

Camping Peach Cobbler

1 Box of Yellow Cake Mix
2 (30oz) Cans of Peaches (drained)
1 (12oz) Can of Sprite

Line your cast iron dutch oven with foil
Spray the foil with Pam
Mix all ingredients together
Place over coals in your fire pit
Bake for 30 minutes or until the cake is golden brown

Bacon Pancakes

I made some bacon pancakes for our camping trip... making them beforehand is much easier than cooking them at the campsite with endless bowls and pans to wash. We reheated them on the fire pit coals for breakfast. Mmmmm. Just add syrup.
Things you'll need:
Pancake mix
Cooked bacon
Prepare pancakes according to package instructions
Pour your pancake batter on a hot frying pan
Place cooked bacon strips on top
Flip that baby
and Voilà

Surfing Weekend Trip {Carlsbad, CA}

We had a fabulous time camping in Carlsbad this weekend. It was so nice to get away and enjoy the beach, surfing and hanging with friends. One of my favorite things to do is huddle around a campfire, chat with friends and cook smores. I was also excited to tryout some new pins from pinterest -a cheaters peach cobbler, banana boats, indian espresso and bacon pancakes!

Tracy Anderson {15 Minute Toning Workout}

Hey guys, here is a repost from the fabulous Goop by Gwyneth Paltrow. I thought this was a really fun 15 minute workout. It's great for toning arm, legs and abs without the bulkiness! And we can all spare 15 min a day right? Easy peasy.

My Bachelorette Party

Here are some pictures from my bachelorhette party in August.  My lovely bridesmaids and a few friends took me on a weekend getway to Palm Springs! We had an awesome time laying out by the pool, having dinner at PF Chang's and spending some quality girl time together. It's just what I needed before the the wedding week rush!

 ^^ Brittany, Melissa, Shannon, Kelsey ^^
Too funny.
 The Palm Springs JW Marriot.
Ooh so fancy.
Thanks girls!
 Bahaha. Christina ^

 Lounging and loving life.
We got the great idea to see how many of us we could squeeze into our bath-tub.
It looks like I have a bubble goatee.^
Some good, clean fun.

Getting our dance on with about 50 other Brides.^
And on the way home we got to visit an old friend. My parents would always stop off at the T-Rex on our way through Cabazon when we were kids. We'd get to go into the belly of the Long Neck Dino shop and walk across the street for a date milkshake before setting off on the road again.
Fun times. Thank you to all my girls for an unforgettable weekend. You guys are the best.
