Lemon Mascarpone French Toast With Almonds

So simple and delicious. It's the perfect combination of sweet, cream and citrus. The lemon mascarpone is magical when it melts on the warm French toast -- it’s basically a beautiful sunny day in your mouth.

Bread {pick whatever kind you prefer. I used honey wheat.}
3 eggs
1/3 cup of milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Lemon Mascarpone
3 tablespoons mascarpone cheese
1/2 lemon {squeezed}
1/3 cup powder sugar
1/4 cup toasted almonds {chopped or slivered}
-Whisk eggs, milk and vanilla in a bowl.
-Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture and then place on a hot frying pan.
-In a separate bowl, mix mascarpone, lemon juice and powder sugar.
-After the French toast is done, spread the lemon mascarpone on each slice of bread.
-Stack the toast and finish with a dollop of lemon mascarpone and sprinkled almonds.

New J.Crew Swimsuit + Countdown to Israel

I bought this cute new swimsuit for my trip to Israel in a few weeks. The family that I nanny for has invited me to come along on a work trip. I'll watch the kiddos while they lead a group of 120 people on a tour of the Holy Land. Pretty cool huh? I'm so excited to see Israel! I needed a suit that was somewhat conservative so I thought this was a perfect middle ground... not too old lady but still keeping it classy. I can't wait to go swimming in the Dead Sea and Jordan River with my nanny babies and Shan {<-- My best friend is coming along too!}.

{Some pictures of Israel}

{Fun Facts}
The Dead Sea’s salt content is four times that of most world's oceans! You can float in it without even trying, which makes swimming here a magical experience. This is the only place in the world where you can recline on the water while reading a book.
The water and mud from the Dead Sea contains more than 35 different types of minerals that are essential for the healthy skin including: Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium, Bromine, Sulfur, and Iodine. They are also known for relieving pain caused by arthritis, rheumatism, psoriasis, eczema, headache and foot-ache, while nourishing and softening the skin.
Oh I’m going to slather that mud all over me!

5 Joie De Vivre {Simple Joys In Life}

{Truffle Tremor Cheese at The SoCo Mix Cheese Shop}
We stumble across this cute little cheese shop. I love the way they display their menu (on the butcher paper). They had the most amazing cheese: testun al barolo, rich goudas flavored with truffles and sharp cheddar with chives etc. We got the truffle tremor - a creamy truffle bree cheese with a mild goat cheese in the middle. Gawwwh. So good.
I secretly steal a sprig when I pass by this bush on our walks. I can't help it, they smell so good!
{ Homemade Toffee Popcorn}
This is what I think heaven would smell like. It's so nice to cozy up on the couch, share a bowl of this magical stuff and a cup of vanilla coffee. I'm thankful for moments like these with my Hub. So relaxing.
{Our New Krups Juicer}
I'm very excited about  our new juicer that we got with the rest of our wedding money from Macy's. We bought some fun fruits and veggies to test out the new machine -- peaches, guavas, apples, blueberries, grapes, spinach, carrots etc. Yay to investing in our health!
{Lunch With My Mr.}
We made lunch at home and ate in the backyard on a sunny afternoon.

Fun New Food

I love trying new foods whenever I get the chance. Our friend Dany told us about these amazing little shops that her Mom would to take her to. Dany's parents grew up in Cambodia, so she knows some great authentic Asian bakeries and resuarants. So we all piled into the car and headed to Westminster for some yummy pandan bread, desserts, Vietnamese sandwiches and milk teas. It was a fun afternoon!

Our Travel Gnome

Meet Felgar. He is our official travel gnome. He mysteriously appeared in our backyard during a BBQ with friends. Hmmmm… I suspect Justin Felgar (hence the name and because Felgar suits him so well). Our friend Justin (beau of my best friend Shan) will be away for the next 9 months or so with the Navy, so we've decided to bring Felgar the Gnome along on all our adventures. We'll send the real Felgar pictures of his gnome friend so he won't miss a thing. Any who -- this is him. He's going to be traveling to Israel in 2 weeks! Yipppeeee!

Easy Nutella Cupcakes

Super easy, yummy Nutella cupcakes! I made these with the rest of our Nutella from Berlin and the hazelnuts from Istanbul. Well, what an international cupcake -- A tasty way to reminisce about our honeymoon!
Bake for 20 min at 350.

Pretty Tree

I went for a walk the other day and came across this pretty tree.
These blossoms are amazing. I was almost tempted to ask the owner for branch...but that would be weird right?

{can you find the little bee?}

The Best Yogurt You'll EVER Eat {Noosa}

Oooooh my gosh. This truly is the best yogurt I've ever had. I need that super-secret Aussie recipe! For reals...check them out.

Dan and I mowed through these the other day. They didn't stand a chance to last a day in our fridge. I love their fruit flavors -- passion fruit and strawberry rhubarb. So amazing.

DIY Refinished Coffee Table

We found this great coffee table at a rummage sale last year for $15. It turned out to be made in Italy and imported by Bloomingdale's! Say waaa!? Score. It had a cute design, but it was all scratched up and whenever I put a cold glass on  it, a white foggy ring would appear on the table. Ahhh no good. So Dan and I resurfaced and stained our Italian coffee table!

Ooh it's so perdy and silky smooth now. And the wood is gorgeous! I'm kicking myself for not taking a "before" photo...but it looks 100% better.

Here's how we did it:

Step one
Use an Orbital Sander to take off the previous layers of lacquer and stain. Sand deep enough to remover scratches and nicks and reveal the original wood.

Step two
Hand sand with a fine grit sandpaper. I would suggest a 120 Grit, but it really depends on the type of wood you are working with.

Step three
Stain and let dry according to the directions on the particular stain you use

Step four
Lacquer. Dry. Repeat 3X
{This process will take a few days}

DIY Chalkboard Coasters

We threw a backyard party a couple weeks ago and our friend Genevieve brought us a cute host gift. She made her own chalkboard coasters -- what an awesome idea!
Thanks Genevieve, Dan and I love them!

What you'll need:
-ceramic tiles
-cork sheet
-chalkboard paint

Here's how to make them:
-spray tiles with chalkboard paint -- let dry
-cut out your cork sheet to match the size of your tiles
-glue the cork to the bottom of the tiles

Simple as that.

Here are some cute ways to use them...

I would also suggest using a chalk marker. It'll help you make those nice neat lines.
