DIY: Teacup Candles

Tools and Materials
Nested pans
Partially burned candles
Candy thermometer
Tongs
New wicking (can be found at craft stores)
Teacups
Wick sustainers
Wooden skewers

Teacup Candles How-To
1. In a small pan set over a larger pan of simmering water, melt down old candles; clip the thermometer to the upper pot, and keep temperature at about 185 degrees. Remove old wicks with tongs.

2. Cut a piece of wicking to the cup's height plus 2 inches. Clamp one end to a wick sustainer; tie the other end around a skewer. Dip wicking and sustainer into melted wax to coat them. Remove and stick sustainer to cup's bottom.

3. Pour in the wax, stopping 1/2 inch below the cup's rim. Allow wax to set, about 1 hour. The candle will harden with a well in the center. To even it out, use another skewer to prick a circle of holes about 1/16 inch deep around the wick. Pour in melted wax until surface is 1/4 inch below rim. Cut wick.

Sugar Lace & Butterflies For Your Tea And Coffee

I love these adorable sugar decorations by SweetDejaVu. They are so beautiful and fun -- they will make ordinary treats such as tea or coffee extra special for your guests.

Surprise your guests with a sophisticated and delicate embellishment in their cup of coffee or tea. Let it float on the surface of a freshly made cup... it will melt within 1-2 minutes, just enough time to enjoy the look of it!

It has a creamy, melt-on-the-tongue, not-too-sweet, pleasant flavor.

Sugar veil lace can also be placed be placed on top of a buttercream, chocolate ganache, or fondant covered cakes.

These delicate little butterflies add a charming touch to any drink or sweet dessert!

You can attach them to any cup or dish with a dab of syrup.
- cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate or cocktail glasses...
- cakes, petit fours or custard dishes...

Try your hand at making these mini clay dishes inspired by Lisa Storms. They are just so darn cute. My favorite is the faux bois dish - oh I want that on my nightstand! And hey...make one for your Mommala too! Moms day is just around the corner. P.S. Mom's day gift guide will be up soon!

Baci by Perugina: Finest Italian Chocolates

I got a box of Baci! They are so good! And each chocolate comes with a little love note in Italian, English, Spanish, French and German.
Adorable.
I've eaten 4 so far...here are my love quotes

"Love has made me live love ardently." - G. Stampa
"Oh truly love me! Oh murmur words of fire!" - J. keats
"Lovers can live on kisses and water." - Proverbio
"You will always be beautiful to me and I will always be true to you." - Cira de Pers

Baci – A kiss from the heart of Italy. Silky dark chocolate enrobes a heart of gianduia (a luscious creamy blend of milk chocolate and ground hazelnuts) dotted with chopped hazelnuts and crowned with a whole hazelnut. Each confection is hugged with a love note and is wrapped in Baci’s signature silver and blue foil.

Such a cute idea to give to your sweetie.

Butter London Nail Lacquer

Yummy Mummy and Toff

Shanny got me some beautiful Butter London nail lacquers. I just love these colors! They are so pretty and the best thing it that Butter London is a 3 free company-- meaning no formaldehyde, toluene or DBP. "They believe in color, not carcinogens" I like that!

Yummy Mummy: Our ‘magic’ lacquer. This medium beige colour is simply stunning on EVERY skin colour. If you can’t decide on a lacquer, then we will for you. It’s this.

Toff: A darker, dustier, brownish variation on a rose pink. Stop to smell them. The roses, not the toffs.

Vans Shoe Art

I love art! Every now and then I will "Sharpie" a pair of shoes for my friends. My latest pair was requested by Ryan, the photographer of our engagement pictures. Ryan Longnecker runs a company called Equals D Photography. He wanted "photography themed" vans with earthy colors. Here I am coffee staining the background to achieve a vintage photography look.

Here are some other shoes that I have created.
