My Best Friend's Wedding

My best friend got married to her Navy man a few months back! I've been holding off on the post, because I wanted to share some of their gorgeous wedding pictures too! Thanks for letting Danny and me be a part of your special day! We love you both so much and wish you all the happiness in the world.

A little MOH love to her best friend and groom.
A small slice of my cheesy speech...

"It is impossible to not see the love, respect and friendship between you. It is the kind of relationship we should all aspire too…one that pushes you to be your best, to trust in your partner and to live by the motto -- home is where your heart is / or home is wherever I'm with you.

Love is powerful – it’s the virtue that holds all others together. Whatever plan God may have for your future, you will know with certainty that he gave you each other to get there as a couple
to love each other
to support each other
and to make each other stronger

Cheers to Justin and Shannon and their greatest adventure yet.  May you both grow more in love each day and be surrounded by the support of family, friends and God’s immeasurable love.  Cheers to a lifetime of happiness."

Shan's Bridal Shower

My best friend is getting married and I am her Matron of honor! So neat. She was my Maid of Honor and now I can be hers. I can't wait to see her get hitched to the man of her dreams in a few short weeks. Here is a little clip of our French Bridal Shower we threw for Shan {they are honeymooning in Paris - Ahhh si fabuleux}. We all love you so much Shan and we are excited for you and Justin to begin your grand adventure together. I am blessed to have you as my friend. You really are the crème de la crème.

Oh So Lucky Studios

My friend Hailey has just opened a fabulous shop called Oh So Lucky Studios "A studio dedicated to celebrating your favorite wedding moments with custom wedding illustrations planned, painted and packaged especially for you!" I am beyond excited for her and thought I should share this beautiful place with all of you.

A note from the artist:
"Hello! My name is Hailey Toohey and I am the Owner, Creative Director, and Illustrator at Oh So Lucky Studios. I am the type who would get married every weekend if I could. I love weddings, I love my husband, and I absolutely love creative design! I decided to combine my passions to see what would happen...
We, the Oh So Lucky Studios team, believe that if you don’t understand people, then you don’t understand business.  The core of our company is not what we do, but why we do it. Our illustrations are inspired by you - the happy people, the romantic souls, the creative gift givers, and all you wedding enthusiasts out there! Our goal is to celebrate, spread, inspire, and search for what truly makes people happy.  We decided to start with weddings.  We believe that healthy marriages are a huge part of a happy life for you, the people around you and most importantly, the people you choose to bring into this world.  Between the Bring Beauty Project and our illustrations, we hope, with your help, to leave this world a bit better and a bit more beautiful than when we found it."

I was lucky enough to be one of her featured brides. Hailey captured my wedding dress lace to a tee ^. I jumped for joy when I came home from work and saw that pretty box delivered on my doorstep. Hailey puts so much love into everything – from her flawless artwork to the sparkly little sticker on the perfectly wrapped tissue paper. You can tell that her heart and soul have gone into every detail. She truly loves what she does.

If you are a past, present or future bride, I suggest you check out Oh So Lucky Studios and take a look at Hailey's amazing work. And to all you grooms and husbands out there, this can be a thoughtful gift for your bride - major brownie points guys! Having a keepsake from your wedding is a very special thing.

Valentine's Day Ideas {Staying In or Going Out}

Are you staying-in or going-out for Valentine's Day? I put together a few ideas for both occasions! Dan and I are planning on staying home this year {just like our first year}. We're looking forward to playing some Bing Crosby and Gershwin records while we cook up some tasty cacio e pepe in our tiny kitchen. We can't wait to crack open a special bottle of Sicilian wine {that our friend Justin got us on his latest deployment -- thanks Justin}.

If you're looking for a fun sappy movie that both of you will enjoy, I would suggest Princess Bride -- it's pretty awesome. I bought my first box of Charbonnel et Walker Marc de Champagne Truffles for a Vday surprise. Ohhhh maw gawd. Officially hooked. Do you think Dan will notice that one is missing? The best chocolate I've ever had...literally fit for a Queen {of England that is}. They were Founded in 1875 and are one of Britain's oldest chocolatiers that are endorsed by the Royal Warrant as chocolate manufacturer to Her Majesty The Queen. Fun Fact.

^^^ For your night out ^^^

Sometimes it's fun to get dressed up and find a fancy place for dinner! I really want to try The Bazaar, Bottega Louie or Red O. I also heard of a restaurant called Perch that is located on the 15th floor of a high-rise with 360 views of Downtown LA. That would be so dreamy.

Love this dress and I've really been diggin' the faux fur lately...

This perfume ^^^ Sexual Sugar by  Michel Germain is a thumbs up. So yeah... the name is a tad strange, but it smells amazing! Who cares what it's called! I've only tried a sample of it, but I've got to go get a bottle. Here's how they describe it -->

Wildberries and orange zest with notes of passion flower and jasmine. Heart notes of fresh roasted almonds, vanilla creme brulee and sandalwood.

And as usual...I'm excited about more chocolate {notice that I have chocolate involved in both scenarios}. I first read about these beautiful little treats on OhJoy. They sound divine. GODIVA Truffle Flight six truffles, placed in a tasting order that build in flavor and intensity.  Inspired by the finest desserts from around the world with flavors like birthday cake, pineapple hummingbird, cheesecake, red velvet,  lemon chiffon, Aztec spice, chocolate eclair, crème brulee, chocolate, lava cake, tiramisu and strawberry crème tarte etc.

You pick the flight...

Well that sounds fun.

Happy soon to be Valentine's Day to you all!

Our Wedding

I can't believe it's been one year since we said "I do". Thank you for being the greatest husband I could ever imagine. Being married to you has been the best year yet. You make my heart melt every day. We have so many exciting years to come. I am thankful for every moment we have together and I look forward to experiencing all that life will bring our way. I'll love you forever Danny. Cheers to our 1st year! Here's our story and some pictures from when we first fell in L-O-V-E!

To all of you who read A Bit Of Bees Knees, this past year has been a busy one... we got married, honeymooned in Europe {awww so amazing}, settled into our little rental house, tore down our own house and started building 2, I traveled to Israel, switched jobs from nannying to manufacturing medical devices {how does that happen?} and tried to find time to write in-between the craziness. We were so busy that I never found time to share pictures from our wedding or honeymoon! Here are some of our favorite moments from our wedding day. We hope to share  some pictures from our honeymoon in the months to come...10 countries and 17 cities in 30 days! We've got pictures galore! What a wonderful year. We have so much to be thankful for.

{My lovely Bridesmaids}
My bridesmaids arrived at my parents home for makeup and hair at 6:00AM! Wow that was early, but we used every bit of time. My Dad made us breakfast and a few of our groomsmen surprised us with coffee...how sweet was that!? These girls are my support system. They make my day. I've known some of them since I was 3 years old! I can count on them for anything. I love these ladies.

{A pile of bridal essentials!}
Makeup, camera, cellphone and chargers, garter, perfume, letter for the Pastor and Wedding Planner, sunglasses, Family Bible with fake rings for the Ring Bearer, signs for pictures, fancy wedding shoes and my ballet flats for some seriously groovy dancing. Check and Check!

{My Dress}
My Mom, Grandma and bridesmaids helped me get ready.

{The Studly Groomsmen}
Meanwhile, the guys got suited-up at our little house. Apparently they only needed 30 minutes to get ready. I heard there was a lot of relaxing, video games and food involved. Nice.
{It's almost time!}

{Here we go!}

{Bring on the tears!}
I was so excited that my heart felt like it was going to explode. I had waited for this exact moment for so long and it was finally happening! Many brides had told me that they didn't remember walking down the aisle -- they were so excited and nervous that it all seemed foggy when they tried to remember details. I used the last 3 minutes before I walked down the aisle to pray. I wanted to collect my thoughts and be thankful for all those years that had led up to this special moment. I wanted to remember every detail; the way Danny looked at me, all our friends and family in the church and holding on to my Dads arm. I wanted to be present. And I was. It was a really beautiful moment. Sure, I was crying...and it wasn't the pretty kind either {it involved chin quivering and a red face}, but I wouldn't have changed it for anything.
{Our First Look}

 {We do!}

 {The whole crew}
All the littles in our wedding were kids that I have nannied over the years. I love these babies!

{While we were taking pictures, our guests were at the cocktail hour}
So many neighbors, friends and family helped decorate our wedding. It was a team effort!

{My Mom used baby pictures of Daniel and me on our table numbers. Too Cute Mom.}

{Getting ready to make our entrance with our wedding party}

{Our First Dance and Mother Son and Father Daughter Dance}

{Our beautiful cake made by a beautiful friend}

{White Sangria and Tea}

{Cutting the cake! Proceeded by smashing the cake into each others face. Real classy. But that's how we roll...we try not to take life too seriously}

{I made wooden silhouettes of us on the band saw. They came in handy as décor  for our wedding table}

{We made an horsd'oeuvres display with the picnic basket that Dan used when he proposed to me.}

{And we used my late Grandparents military suitcases as a card box and placed a picture of them next to the table}

{Some of our funny friends and family}

{Time to dance!}

{Someone looks really happy}

{Some of my sassy nanny babies on the dance floor}

{Bouquet toss!}

 {Too much fun}

{The Garter Toss!}
