-Put Panko crumbs into a medium sized bowl {set aside}
-Mix the soy sauce, pressed garlic and sesame oil in a medium sized bowl
-Dip each 4oz tuna steak into the soy sauce mixture and then roll them in the Panko crumbs
-Place each tuna steak into a frying pan with olive oil
-Fry each side of the tuna until the Panko is golden brown

Bear Flag Fish Co.

One of my favorite spots! The best seafood in town.

The Los Angeles Times calls it --
"A vision of seafood simplicity, the type that should exist along every waterfront but that rarely does. The Bear Flag Fish Co. in Newport Beach is a fish market that also serves a loyal crowd with fresh seafood, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, salads and more."

Dan and I LOVE their Ahi Poke and chips. You might just see us here after our sailing class on Saturdays or in the evenings after work. I can't get enough of this place! They bring in fresh fish daily and use local bread from the C'est Si Bon Bakery for grilled fish sandwiches and bowls of clam chowder. They also have fun drinks like Wild Poppy's, grapefruit ginger, plum licorice, vanilla peach, peppermint lemonade and young coconut water straight from the coconut!

Spear Fishing: Fish Tacos

Danny and I have been watching the Yule kids (not so much kids anymore) for the past two weeks. Austin (16) is a spear fishing master. Here's what he came home with the other day...

What!!!!? No WAY!
Austin said this one was hard to get. The fish pulled him around underwater before it tired-out and he was able to swim to the surface!
Don't tell me that! You crazy kid! No drowning allowed please...

So we made fish tacos!

Our Fishing Trip

Danny and I went fishing with my Grandparents at 6:30AM yesterday. We launched the boat in Dana Point and headed north towards Laguna and Newport.  We snacked on edamame, fresh strawberries and oatmeal cookies while Grandpa gave us lessons on tying polymer and cinch  knots for our hooks. I loved taking pictures of the beautiful coastline and spending time with my family. P.S. Grandma, Danny and I caught about eight mackerel and released them (yucky eats). Grandpa…the fish whisperer of fishermen, caught two beautiful Sea Bass. Good job Grandpops!

No luck!

Laguna Beach

This is one of my favorite beaches called Thousand Step in Laguna Beach. This early morning picture doesn't do it justice -- it's a beautiful secluded cove with clear water and a soft white sand. The trek to get here is a little tiring (hence the name) but it's well worth it! I love the  beach huts and the rickety old elevator that someone made to make their daily visit less daunting.

One of Grandpa's Sea Bass! He never fails to catch a fish!
