DIY: Magnetic Chalkboard Frame!

Daniel and I finally created our magnetic chalkboard frame! Now we can leave each other funny messages, create shopping lists, inspirational quotes of the day or a menu display when we have friends over for dinner. I love it! It was super easy to make and it adds a personal touch to our little dinning area.

What You'll Need:
1 Vintage Frame
1 Thin piece of metal cut to fit your frame (make sure you pick a metal that is compatible with magnets)
1 can of chalkboard spray paint (I got ours from Home Depot)
1 Set of magnets (I got these -- they're so smooth and pretty!)
Chalk (cute box of colored chalk)
Contact Glue
Screws

Directions:
1. Find a frame!
2. Cut your metal sheet to fit your frame
3. Spray your metal sheet with chalkboard spray paint. Let dry for 1 day.
4. Paint the inside back of the frame with contact glue
5. Press your metal sheet into the frame
6. Drill screws (in the back of the frame) at a shallow angle to pinch the metal sheet into place.

Italian Bruschetta

I was watching a European travel show the other day....one of my guilty pleasures. Dan and I like to find travel inspiration for our future romp through Italy (2 months to go)! This recipe was by a chef in a little Italian hill town. He made his Bruschetta in a stone fire oven, using fresh bread, tomatos, garlic, olive oil and salt. It's that simple. I thought, "hmmm this seems super easy and wonderful; I'll give it a whirl." Dan and I are nuts for this bruschetta. It's SO flavorful and clean tasting. I think I ate 4 yesterday! It will make your whole house smell like Italy.

Here's how ya do it.

1 Loaf of bread (preferably a wide Italian loaf of bread)
1 clove of garlic
1 firm organic tomato (thinly sliced)
Sea salt or flaked salt
Olive oil

Preheat Oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit

-Cut your bread into 1 inch thick slices and place on a baking sheet. Bake in the oven until your bread is hard to the touch
-Cut your garlic clove in half and rub the garlic on the bread
-Place the tomato’s on top of the bread
-Drizzle liberally with olive oil
-Sprinkle with salt

More Cake Tasting! Susie Cakes!

So Daniel and I had another cake tasting for the wedding. Oh joy! I've decided I'll be signing up for cake tastings even after we pick our cake. Ha-ha...I wish. They are so much fun and who can resist free cake!?

Susie Cakes is FABULOUS! They're a little out of our price range for our wedding cake, but it's worth to give them a try. I fell in love with their strawberry, lemon and vanilla buttercream frosting's on vanilla cake.

We tried coconut, mint, lemon, strawberry, mocha, chocolate, peanut butter, vanilla and cream cheese frosting's on vanilla, chocolate and red velvet cakes. Oh YUMMM

Best Beach Chair!

Ohhh! I want this CHAIR! Ok...it's a tad dorky but who cares -- no more neck pain from reading on your tummy or trying to block the blinding sun with your little book while laying on your back!

The chair lets you relax in almost any position and allows you to read comfortably while tanning your back. Features include extra wide hardwood arms, a carrying handle, a cup holder, metal is rust free, and the fabric is quick to dry and easy to clean. I'll take it!
